![]() Russ and Lyle gathered for a party this week at the Ward Warehouse at the Paina Cafe. If you're looking for a lunch place that has it all, then this lunch place is the place for you. Or the poke bowl" said Rae Apaka of McCully. The Paina Cafe, opened just a few months but already they've got a big time fan base. Tucked away in the middle of the Ward Warehouse, Paina patrons enjoy a varied menu, but some don't need a menu at all. "Paina Cafe gets the best poke bowls on the island. Come down and grab some for yourself, super good" said Kyle Shimabukuro of Pacific Heights. "Poke over the hot rice, da best!" But the Paina Cafe is much more that just poke bowls. They have entrees off the grill and a wall full of sandwiches and salads to choose from. It's good and it's not that expensive" said Apaka. Co-owner Derek Uehara was brave enough to put Russ to work in the kitchen. "So Derek, what are we making today? Let's paina in the Paina Café" said Russ. "We're actually going to do a Paina Plate today" said Uehara. It's a build your own lunch plate selection. ![]() Home of the Original Poke Bowl Our authentic Hawaiian style fresh poke served on top of your choice of white or brown rice. They start with a piece of fresh ahi seared on a grill press. " And just for kicks, we're adding a veggie kebob, something Russ could do at home but he'd destroy it almost immediately." In the end, the ahi and veggies are both grilled to perfection. Throw in some of Paina's special dipping sauce and we're just getting started. Add the potato salad, green salad on the other side and you just can't beat it. That's just part of a terrific Cheap Eats menu. Steak and shrimp combos, less than nine bucks, poke bowls start at $4.95. And most other Paina picks can be yours for less than eight dollars. ![]() At Paina its all about choices and they've got a bunch of choices. There's the Paina Nicoise Salad with ahi right on top of that. There's also a seared ahi with an added vegetable skewer, and a spicy ahi poke bowl. Lyle tackles the Greek salad and their steak and shrimp combo plate. And then there is the world famous Paina poke bowl. When you see the lines at Paina, they are for their poke bowl. And the crowds gather everyday, 10 to 9, Sundays till 6.
